New brand to watch: RAVENS HEAVEN

We have lots of friends who are working in the fashion industry but not many who can go international since the start. Ravens Heaven is one of them. Designed by Nancy Wong (a.k.a. Nancy Chuangkamhang) launched her first handbag collection in 2009 but within a year her Ravens Heaven’s bags are selling in Bangkok and Tokyo.

Nancy got herself started in the handbag business in 1999 when she was tapped to co-design and manage the heavy-metal, rock inspired leather handbags and silver jewelries for the local Japanese brands which retailed through multi-label stores in Tokyo and Osaka. And through her experiences in working in Bangok, Shanghai, Tokyo and Hongkong Ravens Heaven was born.

Nancy told Friends Like Them that “The brand has a “dare to be different” attitude, and is geared toward men and women with unique personalities, a strong sense of self and the confidence to craft their own personal style without letting others opinions influence them.” Her designs are best described as “sophistication with raw edges” – the perfect accessories for stylish urbanites with a taste for something different.

Well we guess the real heaven isn’t too far away…

DS by Disaya Sorakraikitikul

We were just looking through some magazines during the week and we came across the Blueprint, one of the biggest Asia’s Fashion Trade Show at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore. It’s not like we have a chance to go but oh my god we just realised so many new Thai designers are joining the event!

One of the brands that totally caught our eyes is DS by Disaya Sorakraikitikul. DS totally surprised us by erasing all the images we used to have for Disaya as being quirky and super girly. In contrast, DS was a totally grunge queen. DS, unlike her costume jewelry line for Disaya brand, embraces on the utilization of precious gemstones, materials, and sophisticated techniques, capitalizing on a more edgy and masculine attitude with an infusion of mysteriousness, and caters to a more upscale contemporary jewelry addict.

We were absolutely stunned by her work because we never expect that these pieces will come from the same designer of Disaya. We are not saying this is a bad thing but quite the reverse it is an amazing way to extend the brand and definitely gaining new customers.

Seriously, I never thought Disaya’s stuff will ever be my style but Greeeeedz! DS you make my heart beats wild!!!

Custom made sneakers : The Best of Both World

To be able to grow in the design industry nowadays you need to be different and definitely niche. Because of this producing something custom made has been extremely popular in the past few years. Tailor clothing and bespoke shoes are long known for the custom made fashion market. But something a little more updated is custom made sneakers. Since Nike launched Nike I.D. the craze of special design sneakers went around every part of the world.
For this post I want to introduce to you 2 top sneaker customizers SBTG (Sabotage) or Mark Ong from Singapore and NASH or Alex Nash from United Kingdom.
NASH or other name NASH Money a young Londoner born in Portuguese family who are obsess with skating and after working with shoe store in Portabello it all came out that he is obsessed with sneakers.
NASH work are mostly regard as reconstruction of shoes as he put parts, bits and pieces of Visvim, Air Jordan, Nike Dunk, etc. that you can imagine of then stitch them back together to create a new one of a kind sneakers. NASH has been collaborating with Nike, Lacoste, Second Son, DC, Foot Locker and many more.
While SBTG has been celebrated by the sneaker heads all over the world especially after the coolest collaboration he did with Nike.  SBTG or Sabotage or Mark Ong is one of the best sneaker painters of the world. Born in Singapore and got into customizing his shoe since he was a kid when he painted his Nike Swoosh poison green.
SBTG work is not the same as NASH, SBTG does hand painted sneakers and very vintage inspired. The signature of SBTG is the Sabotage logo that is always on all his work.
Though the 2 are working as sneaker customizers yet both have their in individual identity that is why they are worldly recognized. We think that the market of custom made stuff will surely grow further, we’ll just need to wait and see…
