It would be impossible not mentioning Sarah Burton, the woman of this hour. After a long debate on the fashion scene in finding the next face for Alexander McQueen, the Gucci Group finally decided that it would be Sarah Burton. Burton has been working alongside with Lee McQueen for over 14 years therefore she understood his vision as well as the core value of the brand. However, it is a tough task to be able to articulate her vision in to McQueen brand. So far Burton has shown the whole world that she can do it and do it well.
As the Creative Director of Alexander McQueen Burton had massive news last week revealing that she designed not one, but two wedding gowns for the newly-wed Duchess Catherine. The British designer ascended the steps of the Metropolitan Museum last Monday in her own bridal-like sheath to pay tribute to McQueen, the designer behind the eponymous label she now runs.
The theme of this year's Costume Institute otherwise known as the Met Ball, one of the most glamorous nights in the New York calendar and this year was held in honour of the Metropolitan Museum's retrospective of the work exhibit is "Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty," honoring the British couturier who ended his own life last year.
We cannot wait to see what more will come from Alexander McQueen under this woman’s hands’…
